this show was pretty good. it was the first time i ever went to pedal pushers, but i have been meaning to go. the pit was pretty good, lot of energy. the first two bands were really good, and they maintained a great crowd. unfortunately during the 3rd band, porcelain vivisection, me and my friends took a break and we missed half of it. they were this very odd almost avante garde band that made the audience go wild. it was a chaotic pit at this point, but it was one of if not the most interesting pits i've ever seen. overall, this was a 9/10 show. pedal pushers has a great crowd, and i will definitely make the trip again.
this was the 2nd pedal pushers show i went to. it's a pretty cool venue. we saw slag dump, which i've seen a few times. the other bands were also good and the crowd had great energy. pedal pushers is definitely a community, and this was actually the 20th show that they had hosted. unfortunately i got hit pretty hard when i went into the pit which sucks, but it was still a cool show. overall 7/10.
after a long couple years, i finally made my way to the pie shop, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. all 4 bands at this show were solid, and the last band commuted was really good, both in terms of stage presence and music. for some reason, this show had a fairly light showing, but the crowd still had good energy. i ended up getting some of the famous pie/quiche, and it was pretty good. getting there was kind of a pain, but luckily my friend was able to drive so i didn't have to. overall 9/10. pieshop is a solid venue, and i will be going to more shows there, along with any more shows these bands perform.
another day, another simple bar show. this place is probably where i've been to the most shows at, and this is not the first time i've seen obliviator here. unfortunately, the show got pushed back an hour because the previous show went overtime. not just that, but two of the bands dropped the bill, so i ended up paying $15 for 2 bands... it was still worth it though. obliviator had a solid set, although the drums fell apart for a minute. the second band was also really good. overall, a 8/10 show. i wish things had gone smoother, but still it was a good show.
back to pie shop for some of my friend's band, grandeur. while this wasn't the first time i've seen them, it was the first time i have seen them on a more normal bill. they were really solid, and they actually just released a EP! other than grandeur, volcandra and saidan played. volcandra was definitely better, but saidan was okay. tickets were a bit high ($18), but it was worth it to see grandeur. i hope they have a strong future. overall, 7/10 show, and once again the pie shop proves itself to be a solid venue.
back to simple bar for a show that was the opposite of the last one i went to. first, this was the biggest crowd i have ever seen at simple bar. luckily, they let everyone in, but there was a line stretching almost half the block. the big headliner was torture, which i am not really that into, but it attracted a big crowd. the rest of the bands were decent, but the sweltering heat and the fact i had to get up at 5am for work the next day meant i left this one early. from what i heard, it was a 6/10 show, but i still enjyoed the time i was there.
decent show at pedal pushers. im not huge into a noise, but the 10$ entry fee is better than most around here, plus i wanted to check out wizard violence. unfortunately, i missed the opening set by tartarean, but hopefully there will be another chance. generally a decent show, nothing too crazy. 6/10
this was one of the best oncerts i have ever been to, and this is mainly ebcause of who it was. weird al has been a personal hero of mine for a long time, and i bought this ticket all the way back in september. while getting there and parking was relatively easy, i did not expect the massive crowd. the opening set was by some guy in a clown costume called puddles pity party, who did a pretty good job keeping the crowd entertained. however, nothing beat when weird al came on stage. it was crazy to see him in person, and close enough to make out detail too. he played a lot of his big hits, but he did sprinkle in some of his nicher songs (i recognised all of them). my favorite performance of his was probably smells like nirvana, but i enjoyed yoda and dare to be stupid as well. i wish he had done a few more deep cuts, but it still was amazing to see him. 10/10 show.
this was a pretty lowkey show that was more important because of the location, which was at fort armistead near baltimore. it was a pretty cool abandoned fort, although it was covered in condoms and graffiti. it was overgrown too, which was pretty neat and provided some privacy for the show. honestly 5/10 music wise, but 8/10 for location. pretty cool.
