music! music! like many others, music is for me more than just something to put on in the background. from my favorite bands, to seeing live music, to learning to play the guitar, music is one of my key interests. while i am currently a consumer of music more than a producer, i would like to one day create something of my own. this page is a list of some of the genres i like, and the bands within them!
metal is super awesome. i mainly listen to death, black, and sludge, although doom, power, nu (if you consider that metal ;P), and thrash all also find their way onto my spotify from time to time. my favorite bands right now are (not exhaustive) probably Acid Bath, Skinless, Darkthrone, frightmare, Impetigo, Necrophagia, Ghoul, Venom, Type O Negative, Entombed, Mortician, Bethlehem, and Bathory. this list is not exhaustive at all, for the record. i'm always looking to listen to new bands, and i haven't covered the dozens of bands and artists i know and enjoy but do not consider my favorites.
goth is another one of my top genres, and i love the genre and the style. no matter the season, i always am listening to one of these bands at least once a week. in fact, several of these were my top artists for 2025. i think that goth is one of the most misunderstood genres out there, and it frustrates me to no end that people have such a limited understanding of it. my favorite bands have got to be Bauhaus, The Cure, Christian Death, London After Midnight, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, The Cramps, Scary Bitches, The Awakening, Voodoo Church, and 45 Grave.
while these are my big genres, it doesn't mean that i don't like anything else. my next biggest genre is probably either alternative rock, electronic, or industrial. i especially like aggrotech and electro-industrial. i also i also enjoy pop and rock, and sometimes hip hop. my favorite bands and artists that i wouldn't categorize as metal or goth i normally listen to are Chemlab, KMFDM, Genitorturers, Rob Zombie, Abandoned Pools, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Lana Del Rey, Ethel Cain, Ayesha Erotica, New Order, Alice in Chains, Hole, Nine Inch Nails, Duran Duran and Weird Al Yankovic.
